Wherever you both are tonight, it's the same moon.

Same Moon is a private app for long-distance couples. It keeps the visits you spend together, and gives the days apart something small to share, like a voice note that waits for their morning or a photo you both take at the same moment.

In private testing now. One email covers you both, and we only write when there's a place for you.

It's 9:41 pm for you and 11:11 pm for them. Same moon, different hours.

Most of a long‑distance relationship happens between visits.

It's the weeks after a goodbye, the voice notes sent while the other one is asleep, and two camera rolls that never quite meet. Same Moon is for that part.

It follows the way you already live, from one visit to the next.

A visit is your time together and between is the time apart. Same Moon has something for each.

Every visit becomes a chapter.

Name the visit, add the city and the dates, and you both drop in photos, short videos and voice notes. They settle into the right day on their own, instead of getting buried in a chat or split between two phones.

A softer goodbye.

Before one of you flies home, Same Moon walks you through a short plan: when you'll call after landing, a show to start together, and a few things you want to do next time. It makes the day you part a little easier.

Hear their day on your morning.

Each day there's one question, like What made you smile today? Record your answer whenever it suits you and it reaches your partner when they wake up. Once a day you both get a nudge at the same random moment to take a photo of wherever you are.

Plan the next one together.

The reels you keep sending each other go onto one Plans board, sorted by city. Mark each one want to, planned or done while the countdown to your next visit runs down.

Your relationship, as a book.

Each visit is a chapter, and so is each stretch apart. Over time they add up to a record of the two of you, in order.

  1. Visit 1Dubai
  2. Between41 days
  3. Visit 2Goa
  4. Between63 days
  5. Visit 3Lisbon
  6. Betweennow
  7. Visit 4next

Only the two of you can read it.

What our server sees: only the middle.
  • Encrypted on your phone.

Photos, voice notes and plans are locked before they leave your device. Our server stores only scrambled data.

  • Not even we can look.

The key comes from a couple password that only you two know. We never see it.

  • Nobody else is in the room.

There are no ads, no feed and no public profile. It's a room with two keys.

The trade-off: if you forget your password and lose your recovery code, nobody can unlock your story, not even us. We'll ask you to print the code and keep it somewhere safe.

How the encryption works

Keep talking on WhatsApp.

Same Moon isn't trying to replace the chat you already have. It holds the things a chat loses over time: your visits, a small ritual for each day, and the plans for next time. You won't find a feed, streaks or ads in it.

If a memory is too good to keep to yourselves, you can share it to WhatsApp or an Instagram Story.

We're one of those couples.

Same Moon started between Dubai and India: one of us on each side of the Arabian Sea, a 90-minute time difference, and a camera roll of visits we didn't want to lose. We're using it ourselves first. When it's ready, we'd like to share it with you.

Questions

When can we use it?

We're testing it ourselves right now. Join the list and we'll invite couples in small groups, starting soon.

Does it work on Android?

We're starting on iPhone. Android is on the list; tell us when you join and we'll prioritise it.

How does the encryption work?

When you set up your space, you choose a couple password. Your phone turns it into a key that locks every photo, video and voice note before upload. Your partner's phone makes the same key from the same password. Our server only ever holds locked data, so a leak, or a nosy developer, finds nothing readable.

Do we both need the app?

Yes. It's a shared space for two. One of you creates it and invites the other by email; you tell them the password on a call, never in the same message.

What will it cost?

It's free while we test. When it launches, it will be one account for both of you, with no ads. We'll tell you the price before anything changes.

Be one of the first couples.

We're opening Same Moon to a small group of long-distance couples soon. Leave an email, and we'll write when it's your turn.

We'll write once, when there's a place for you two.
